Community Communications Manager at Linden Lab, Creators of Second Life
Description
Overview:
The Community Communications Manager is an articulate collaborative individual who is responsible for ensuring Resident Communications are consistent with Linden Lab corporate goals and messaging. In addition, the Community Communications Manager will provide insight into the Second Life community with an eye towards cultivating a fruitful discussion among Residents and Linden Lab.
Responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive strategic plan to increase awareness of key Linden Lab messages to internal and external stakeholders utilizing the tools we have available including the Linden Lab blog.
Identify trends, provide solutions for Resident communication and encourage community participation. Develop metrics and tracking to validate community interaction.
Organize and provide oversight to Linden Lab blog, including the development of best practices, maintaining blog calendar, and editing executive blog posts.
Work with Communications team to ensure community initiatives messaging is consistent and to coordinate messaging and brainstorm ideas with Executive team.
Develop Community outreach plans for utilizing a variety of tools including MOTD, Login Screen, Showcase, Twitter, Forums, Plurk, and inworld events
Monitor blogosphere and Twitter keeping team up to date on Virtual World issues trends.
Provide oversight and monitoring of third party forum moderation consultants.
Education & Experience::
BA/BS in Marketing, PR or related degree
4-6 years Marketing, PR or related experience especially in the area online community/social marketing.
3+ years professional experience in online community marketing and/or working on the marketing of a consumer-focused web property, 2+ years of this experience should be online social marketing experience.
A mixture of marketing and community management experience
Expert in encouraging communication within social media applications (Facebook, forums, blogs, etc.)
Prior Web 2.0 experience and a deep appreciation of internet and technology
Proven ability to plan and execute resourcefully, with minimal supervision, execute multiple marketing programs simultaneously, work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
The ability to speak effectively with the product and development team
Experience developing and executing integrated communication plans
Commitment to the Tao of Linden and the work philosophy driving and supporting the success of Linden Lab
